Spawn

Build iPhone and iPad apps with AI

FAQ

Do I need to have Xcode installed?

Yes, you can install it on the Mac App Store.

Do I have to be logged in to build apps?

Yes, you must verify your email address to build apps with Spawn.

How do I enable my app to use System Services like the Camera, Photos and Location?

Describe the app's behavior in English and Spawn will generate the necessary code.

Example: "Show a button at the bottom called 'Open Camera' that opens the camera when tapped."

Spawn will generate the code and run the app including the request for permission to use the camera.

How do I save a version of the app I'm working on?

Make a copy of the current .spawn file and then continue editing. With this approach you can always go back to the original version.

In a coming update, there will be built in versioning inside the .spawn file so you won't have to make copies.

How do I share my app with others?

You have four options:

1. Publish your app on the App Store.
2. Share your app privately with TestFlight.
3. Share your .spawn file. Others can open it in Spawn.
4. Export your app as an Xcode project and share that.

Is Spawn free?

Yes.

My app isn't working the way I describe it should.

Try to be as clear and descriptive about the appearance and behavior of every single element in your app. During app regeneration, describe the app's problems as clearly as possible. You can try regenerating a few times until you get the desired result.

Spawn is still alpha software and may not be able to currently build the app you expect. However, over time it will get better and handle more requests.

Does Spawn produce native apps?

Yes, all Spawn apps are fully native. You can open the exported Xcode project to modify Swift code.
